Island scent Pty Ltd is the owner of the brand Coco de Mer cosmetics which produces the extract of the Coco de Mer. Working on the Coco De Mer nuts we noticed a unique fragrance coming from the husks. We invested significantly in newproduct R&D working with various Universities and Cosmetic laboratories. After two years we were able to gain the unique chemical profile of the Coco de Mer and thus begin the formulation of cosmetics from the unique aroma. We are in collaboration with Diadema cosmetics a luxury Italian cosmetic company to produce a unique cosmetic products and a perfume line with organic, sustainably sourced Coco Der Mer. Our company works in unison with Government of Seychelles employing are specifically trained to gather naturally fallen nuts in the forest without harm. Like all the most important things in life, it started with a love story. Back in the late 80s I embarked upon a daring adventure in the Seychelles where I met my husband. It was love at first sight and soon we were exploring the coral reefs together and riding bikes along the dirt tracks of La Digue Island. After a period in Italy where our daughter Sharon was born, we moved our dental practice to the Seychelles where I became the first ever private dental surgeon of the Islands after many years.

Even though we were very busy , we started working on our Distillery. Patrick had intimate knowledge of all the hidden gems of the Seychelles, including it’s rare and indigenous plants. By harvesting directly from nature we began to manufacture 100% raw and wild essential oils, some that hadn’t been made in over 200 years since Seychelles traded as colony. It wasn’t long before our attention was captivated by the Coco de Mer. Shrouded in mystery and legend we sought ancient legends to rediscover it’s use and origin. There were tales of it being a miraculous healing plant for cancer, others such as the Arabs valued it as an aphrodisiac. Practically we soon found great demand as a traditional medicine in the Asian markets and began to export it. However we could not ignore the original tales of it’s properties so we decided to investigate. After many years of research, trials and errors we are proud to have made the first line of cosmetics in the Seychelles which uses the real extract of Coco de Mer, unlike many other fake products which are currently on the market. We aim to make the Coco de Mer as famous as it truly deserves to be.
